In celebration of Earth Day, the GGA and F.D.R. State Park are teaming up to remove trash along their trails. There is an excess of trash on these trails and they are in need of help getting it all cleaned up.
Join up with a group of geocachers (we're all super nice people) in warm springtime weather and help out the park. Show the GA State Parks how much we care about our environment and preserving the parks' beauty. Meet new geocachers and/or reconnect with ones you're already friends with. Trade caching stories or discuss puzzle caches you just can't solve all while cleaning the park. These gatherings are always fun and enjoyable and after you're done, hunt the caches that are hidden in the park!!
We will start gathering at 9:00 AM at the posted coordinates, which is the Visitors/Registration Center. We will sign in and receive instruction and move out at 9:15 AM sharp. Depending on the attendance, this task may not take long to complete.
We are planning on working until approximately 11:30. You do not have to stay this long if you do not want to. Any help will be appreciated. If you are staying the whole way through, you may want bring a sack lunch or snack.
FDR State Park will provide the trash bags and the GGA will provide water. You may bring your own water bottle to fill up instead if you choose. You may also want to consider bringing gloves to ensure that your hands stay clean. You might consider sun screen and bug repellent as well.
This is spring time, so be prepared for rainy weather. We will meet up rain or shine. If it rains, we will all get wet together. If it's a sunny day, we will enjoy the wonderful weather.
There is a $5 dollar park entrance fee unless you tell them that you're a volunteer with the GGA to help clean up the park.
The GGA thanks LionsLair for being the coordinator for this event.
