Geocache Description:

Happy International CITO Weekend!  To encourage Cachers to participate in CITO events and celebrate Earth Day, ground speak announced they will be awarding a 2013 Cito Souvenir for anyone that attends a CITO event! If you can stay for the entire event, that would be great, but if you have to leave early or come late, that is ok too.

Monocacy Hill has been a designated Stewardship Forrest since April 2009 by the Amity Township Board of Supervisors. Every year, a great deal of volunteer effort and manpower goes into maintaining the health of Monocacy Hill and its Watershed so that future generations will be able to enjoy the area's unique Educational and Recreational Experience! Now is our chance to give something back!

We are seeking willing Geocachers to help out Sunday April 21, 2013 for removal of invasive vines and brush and removal of mustard weed. We will likely be breaking up into small groups and splitting up. This event will take place from 10am to 3pm

Please try to RSVP by the week before the event so we have an estimate of how many will be attending

What to Bring: Garden Gloves and Pruning sheers or any other small cutters suitable for this purpose....Some extras will be available but definitely not enough for everyone.

Portable toilets are available near the entrance. I would suggest wearing weather appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. I also suggest you bring drinking water as needed for yourself.

The terrain of the hill varies...(it gets steeper and rockier the higher you go up...into the 3-3.5 ranges), But for the most part Monocacy yields very kid friendly and manageable hiking! This unfortunately is not a wheelchair accessible event.

Parking is at the main entrance but carpooling will be helpful depending on the actual turnout. It is ok to park along Geiger road near the entrance.

Hope to see you there!! For more info about Monocacy Hill and trail maps go to www.Monocacyhill.org Thanks to Risa Marmontello from MHCA for graciously helping us organize this event!

Thanks everyone for coming out and working so hard to keep Monacacy Hill a clean and great wildflower park which is great for cachers. Have a look at all the pictures of everyone working today.
