Prva pisomna zmienka o Likavke je z roku 1341 a odkazuje na existenciu tejto osady uz za vlady krala Belu IV v rokoch 1235 az 1270. Dedina lezala pri dôlezitej obchodnej ceste, veducej z Dolneho Uhorska cez Oravu do Polska. Nad touto cestou dal zupan Donč vybudovat hrad Likava. Dedina s hradom sa neskôr stali kralovskym majetkom a sucastou hradneho panstva Likava.

The first written mention of Likavka is from year 1341 and refers to the existence of the village during the reign of King Bela IV between years 1235 and 1270. Near to village was an important trade route leading from the Lower Hungary through the Orava to Poland. Above this route was build a castle Likava by Earl Donč. The village with the castle later became royal property and a part of the Likava´s estate.
