Geocache Description:

monument
The forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families was official government policy from 1909 to 1969.
Children were taken from Aboriginal parents and placed with institutions and from the 1950s began also being placed with white families.
While many Aboriginal groups feel they can never be adequately compensated for the loss of their families, there was a strong campaign for an official apology by the Australian Government. On February 13 2008 the Prime Minister of Australia officially apologized to the Stolen Generation on behalf of the Government.
For more information see the websites of Reconcilliation Australia & Link Up NSW. Anyone interested can find the Prime Ministers apology on YouTube.
The cache is located near a sandstone memorial sculpture to the "Stolen Generation" by Aboriginal Artist Joe Hirst. It was created in 1999.
NB: The cache is not on, in or under the memorial.
NB2: The cache is near a popular dog walk area. Avoid peak dog walk times! (this explains the 2.5 difficulty)
