ImogenMichel: Unfortunately with the cache having been muggled twice this year and work becoming much busier recently I don't feel that I have the time to maintain this cache any more :( It's a great spot for a cache though and if anyone wanted to create a replacement cache I'm sure that PEDAL (who manage the orchard) would be very happy for you to contact them to place a new one.

Geocache Description:

A relatively straightforward traditional cache in a beautiful community orchard very close to Brunstane railway station. There is plenty of free parking in the vicinity for those who wish to come by car as well as places to lock up bicycles.

 
This cache is placed in the Donkeyfield Orchard, Portobello's first community orchard, which was started in 2010 by PEDAL (Portobello Transition Town). Please be careful to walk around the trees and bushes, particularly young trees which have been planted more recently and are vulnerable to damage.

The orchard has a large number of fruiting trees and bushes as well as trees useful for coppicing such as willow and hazel. It is planted and worked by local people aiming to produce some of their own food in a way which is enjoyable, social and environmentally friendly.

For those who are wondering about the name for this cache, it actually comes from the donkey who used to live in the orchard in the 1960s who was called Dingle.
