Geocache Description:

There is no Gold to be found here. There is only a simple hide a key on a guard rail. It does over look a baseball little league park. Muggles could be thick at times. But ah The Thrill of the Hunt. That is what this funny little hobby is all about, right? Oh where oh where can it be, Oh right over there, now let us sign it, log it, and get a smile.

But how about a real treasure hunt with gold at the end? I have stumbled upon a real gold hunt and want to share it with you. No really, this guy Forrest Fen hid a treasure chest, with gold and treasure in it. It lies somewhere in the Rocky Mountains. Figure out this poem and it is yours.

THE POEM

This poem written by Forrest Fenn contains nine clues that if followed precisely, will lead to the end of his rainbow and the treasure. Happy Hunting!

As I have gone alone in there
And with my treasures bold,
I can keep my secret where,
And hint of riches new and old.

Begin it where warm waters halt
And take it in the canyon down,
Not far, but too far to walk.
Put in below the home of Brown.

From there it's no place for the meek,
The end is ever drawing nigh;
There'll be no paddle up your creek,
Just heavy loads and water high.

If you've been wise and found the blaze,
Look quickly down, your quest to cease,
But tarry scant with marvel gaze,
Just take the chest and go in peace.

So why is it that I must go
And leave my trove for all to seek?
The answer I already know,
I've done it tired, and now I'm weak.

So hear me all and listen good,
Your effort will be worth the cold.
If you are brave and in the wood
I give you title to the gold.

My 1st thought for this hide was to make it a letterbox and somehow tie it into the poem. But I am not even sure of the 9 clues are in the poem. I have some ideas. I have done some internet searches. I have looked at maps. But I am no where close to buying a plane ticket to the Rockies. My next thought was to make it a "?" cache but that would be working to hard and not all geocachers look at "?" caches. So I thought the best thing to do is make it an easy one and ask others to figure out clues to the poem. Now if any of you happen to have any ideas leave them here. If I find it I might give you a small cut, and if you find it, I will not ask for a cut but just a look. From what most think is the 1st clue. "Warm waters halt" maybe a damn that stops warm water from a spring or something? Some say it is Yellowstone's and some where down stream. I think it might have to do more with warm water fishing? Just some ideas. But many many have looked in those spots. Who knows?
