Young Bear Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

lakedawgs: We visited the area today and spotted the cache on the ground about 10-15' from where it should have been, and the container was a bit dinged up... maybe a lawnmower or weedeater knocked it out of place (although we originally placed it up high on the fence). And although we really enjoy bringing people to such a wonderful spot, we've decided to archive this one. Even with a clear description of our container, way too many folks have confused it with the nearby Letterbox.

Geocache Description:

NOTE: EVIDENTLY THERE IS A LOCK-N-LOCK CONTAINER HIDDEN APPROXIMATELY 100' FROM THIS CACHE... THIS IS *NOT* THE CACHE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. WE BELIEVE THIS MAY BE A LETTERBOX LISTED ON AN ALTERNATE LISTING SITE. YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SILVER BISON TUBE!! LOGS CITING THE SIGNING OF THE LOG IN THE LOCK-N-LOCK AFTER 7/12/14 WILL BE DELETED.

At approximately 5-years-old, Frances Slocum was taken from her family home near Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in 1778 by a small group of Indians from the Delaware tribe.  Later she married into the Miami tribe, and eventually moved through Ohio and into the Mississinewa River Valley in Indiana.  Frances (renamed Mo-con-no-quah or "Young Bear") wasn't reunited with her birth family until she was well into her 60s (59 years after her abduction).   For more on this fascinating story, please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frances_Slocum.

You are looking for a small, silver bison tube style container.  Please replace as found, and let us know if there are any issues with the container and/or log.  Please be respectful of the area -- not only is this a cemetery, but there is a residential home just across the street.
