Mount Everest in all of it's glory! It was a dream of a lifetime to travel to this wonderous place and get a chance to climb this mountain. Climbing with Sherpas is for sissies! I climbed this thing solo.

Climbing Mt. Everest is an obvious achievement. But just trekking to base camp is a feat that requires strong lungs, leg muscles that can go for hours uphill, and a physiology that will adapt to air that suffers a significant deficit in the oxygen department.

Altitude, not distance or terrain, was the main hurdle on my journey. The trek began at about 9,000 feet in the village of Lukla. It topped out at base camp with stops to sleep at 11,000 feet, 13,000 feet, 16,000 feet, and higher along the way.

Here I am hiding the cache. You get completely disorientated. I had to keep reminding myself I was climbing a mountain. Every step of the way I had to try to motivate myself. At that altitude I took at least 10 to 15 breaths each time I moved one foot. Those three days were hell. I'd wake up with my sleeping bag covered in snow and ice and icicles stuck to my face. Then I'd pack up my wet sleeping bag and have tea and porridge and walk all day. It took 45 minutes to climb 100m. It was absolutely awful. When I arrived at top camp I had to collect ice in a black bag and melt it in a cup on the stove. I spent several hours just melting ice to make soup and tea. It was a lot more difficult than I anticipated and came close to death on more than one occasion. When I finally reached the summit I took this picture and hid the cache.

Here is the route I followed to get to the top.

This is my April Fools Day puzzle cache.
As such, the information outside of this yellow box and my
tales of mountain derring-do should be considered highly suspect.
To help you ascertain the correct coordinates, I have hidden several clues throughout this cache page.
Any clues not located directly on this page may be considered true.
Any clues under the "Additional Hints" may be considered true.
