Located in the Town of Pleasant Springs on the east shore of Lake Kegonsa at the outlet of the Yahara River, LaFollette Park can be reached from US Highway 51 by traveling east on County Highway B for one and one-half miles and turning north on Williams Drive. The park is best known for its wayside picnic areas and shore fishing at the locks and dam. Canoes can be launched at the north end of the park below the locks and dams.
Dane County Parks use to require a fee for “Geocache” permits to place up to three geocaches in the parks. Originally my intent was to place a unique geocache in this park. But since I had to purchase a permit, I might as well get my money’s worth, and this is the second of three geocaches I am establishing. This is just your basic regular ammo box kind of cache. (The challenging one is at the other end of the park.) While this cache is intended for all, I try to specifically keep it stocked with swag for the younger members of geocaching families to enjoy. Please help me keep it fun for the next person to find, by leaving an item if you take an item. Something a young geocacher would like or learn from! Please replace the cache as found, hidden and camouflaged, and enjoy the game as it was intended to be. If you find the cache damaged, please log a needs maintenance log. Trackables are meant to be moved about, not kept. Please log them appropriately and as soon as possible. Thanks.
