Geocache Description:


This is a Cache Run located in the RV Griffin Reserve, Kings Highway, Arcadia.

The reserve was named in memory of DeSoto County Commissioner RV Griffin. The property was purchased in 1992 to help meet future water supply needs of Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee and Sarasota counties.

The property is managed by the Peace River Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority. The PRMRWSA operates water supply facilities that were originally built by the developer in anticipation of its planned communities.

Caches are Hanging Camoed Film Containers or Rx Containers.

Since motor vehicles are not allowed in the reserve, you will need to hike or bike the trails. Caches were placed by biking in and out of the reserve.

From the parking area to Griff-09 is approximately 1.3 miles and is on a gravel road. This will bring you to the area where the Charlotte County RC (Radio Controlled) Fyers Association has their airfield. They are allowed to drive to the field. No other vehicles are allowed. Beyond this area is another gate. From this gate to Griff-End is approximately 2.5 miles and consists of hard and soft sand. Difficult bike ride for "newbies."

Please note that the North Gate is the only authorized entrance to the preserve.
