It's at their request we're holding an introduction to geocaching open day, to encourage people to come along and give it a try in Almond Park, Livingston.
The event will kick off at 11am and running through until about 3pm. Hopefully, winter will have finally finished and we will have some warm sunshine for a walk along the river and around the park.
The format for the day will be very relaxed, with an information table about geocaching, next to the other stalls that will be there for the event.
There will be some temporary, muggle friendly, non-loggable caches hidden around the park for the day. It is anticipated that some experienced cachers can take the interested muggles (or less experienced cachers) around these in small groups and explain to them how geocaching works. In these dummy caches we will have some items of "treasure".
I hope to find space in the park to place another couple of real caches which would go live before the event.
We have no idea how many muggles will turn up and want to give caching a go during the day. However support from local cachers, no matter how experienced, would be appreciated; remember, we were all newbies once.
After the event, there will be time to go further afield for some more caching or possibly head to the pub for a pint or two.
