Geocache Description:

I have always been fascinated by space travel.  How NASA can send out a rover and it lands on Mars in six months and 25 days just fascinates me.  Then they follow it up by doing it again, this time seven days faster then the previous time.  The science involved in just getting to Mars is amazing to me, but then to continue on with collecting data and sending pictures back, wow!

Do you have what it takes to find a little bit of the information that a NASA scientist would have to figure out?
To solve this puzzle, you need to gather enough spirit to find the height of the rover that first lands on an unknown planet.  You also need to find the acceleration due to gravity in feet per second squared on this planet.
This rover’s purpose is to collect data and take pictures of the planet.  Any pictures the rover takes will be amazing and very valuable. What about the information?  So much could be found, and I can’t even imagine all the information a trained NASA scientist could figure out.  There is one thing I know they are interested in and that is the gravity on this planet.
If your rover shoots out an atmospheric “ball” out of the top of the rover and its path finds it 68 feet above the ground at one second, 72 feet above the ground at 2 seconds, and 18 feet above the ground at three seconds, you will be able to figure out the gravity of the planet at that spot and the initial velocity of the “ball” being shot out of the rover?

Gravity = eb     Velocity = ca    height = d
N 44 ab.cde

Now you have the opportunity to do this all over again for another unknown planet.  What is the height of this other rover that lands on this planet?  You also need to find the acceleration due to gravity in feet per second squared on this planet.
When this other rover collects its data it shoots out an atmospheric “ball” out of the top of the rover and its path finds it 29.5 feet above the ground at one second, 41 feet above the ground at two seconds, and 25 feet above the ground at four seconds, what is the initial velocity of the “ball” being shot out of this rover?

Gravity = hi      Velocity = jf      height = g
W 088 fg.hij

When you find the information, you will know you are right and won’t need a geochecker.
Good luck finding out this information.
