Groundskeeper series: The Mineral Line Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Antheia: As the owner has not responded to my previous log requesting that they check this cache I am archiving it.

Please avoid geolitter by removing any remaining traces of your cache or contact a local cacher to do so for you. If you are having difficulty doing so then please contact me via my profile and I will try to get someone to assist. This is particularly important if your cache appears to contain Travelbugs or Geocoins.

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

I am the groundskeeper for Groby and I have introduced a series of Geocaches to show people the hidden areas around the village.
I will be adding more caches over time to produce a series.
Caches are placed randomly at present, with the intention of linking them together in the future.
If you are hunting during the week, you may come across me carrying out my duties. Please feel free to come over and introduce yourself.

This footpath is known as the Mineral Line. It once used to be the conveyor of Groby Granite from the Quarry (now Quarry Park) along a narrow gauge railway, the rails have long gone and it is now a scenic footpath.

Along side the cache is a field known as Butler's field, this is an area which has been dedicated to wildlife and is managed accordingly. In 2012 we planted 60 trees to honour the Queen's Silver Jubilee.

The footpath leads you to Cowpen Spinney, an area of woodland consisting of mainly oak and ash trees.
