These woods are where my love for geocaching really began. When I first came here a couple years ago, it was like exploring the wilderness. There was no map and no clearly marked trails. I was in search of Tayloe's Iron Works, the oldest cache in the county.
After a couple of hours, I found the cache and to this day it's probably my most satisfying find.
On my adventure that day, I also discovered something that I dubbed "The Loaner." I remember thinking it was so cool at the time. Of course, I only really discovered it because I got lost. Otherwise, I wouldn't have seen it. Indeed, it is quite possible to do every other cache in this area and still not discover "The Loaner."
But "The Loaner" is too cool not to be seen in my humble opinion. Besides, I'm sure it probably likes it when visitors stop by. So, here is a letterbox that will take you by my old friend.
Nice looking map, huh? I always knew I should have went to art school. Anyways, you might want to print it out. Or, if you have a smart phone with the official groundspeak geocaching app, you can find a copy of the map in picture gallery that you can zoom in or out on. I've set things up so it "should" be fairly easy to follow the map to get to the cache.
The FTF for this cache can take one swag item of his or her choice. Just please don't anyone take the stamp! The stamp needs to be put back in the cache when you're done. If there's no stamp, it's not a letterbox hybrid! Well, good luck and happy caching! :)
mobywv's totally awesome map
