Geocache Description:

This is not your typical CITO event.  It really goes to the very definition of a CITO: benefitting the community and the environment.

Bats are very misunderstood creatures.  People have a lot of wrong ideas and folk lore about them.  Today is my Eagle Project and we will be building bat boxes, learning about bats and cleaning up the park.

We will start at 2 PM at Randleman Park and finish by 5 PM.
All the tools and supplies will be provided to build up to 10 bat boxes.
We just need bodies to help make them, and clean the park. Sound interesting?
There will be three stations. Station 1 is building the boxes. All the wood will be precut. We just need to build them that day.
Station 2 will be our education station learning about bats. Come with your question, be fact or fiction and find out if they are true. As a bonus, we are working on a new WherIGo about bats. Our plan is to have it ready that day.
Station 3 will be the grounds clean up. We will have some bags to pick up the trash in the park and get it ready for when the bat boxes will be mounted by the Randleman Parks and Recreation.
I hope you can come and meet the scouts in my troop. Many of them are geocachers. This is a good joint project between scouts and geocachers.
An average brown bat can eat over 1000 insects (mostly mosquitoes) each night!

North Carolina is home to 13 species of bats, all insect eaters!
You can help these critters, meet scout cachers, help the park all in one day! Hope you can come.
Bring an outdoor chair to sit. Picnic tables are limited.
