Geocache Description:

Geo-Dog's ... next to our GPS, they are a Geocachers best friend.  And there are many "legends" around here.  Who hasn't heard of Shoob, Sheeb, Zane, Slater, Clancy, and others?  This cache is dedicate to all of our canine caching companions who trudge down trails, across streams, through tick infested briars by our side the entire way.

The cache is a large container hidden not more than 20 feet off the Forest Hills Loop Trail, close to a bridge and a creek.  Parking lot is on Merry Hill Rd.  Take the little trail a short distance to Forest Hills Loop.  "Stellar's Jammies" cache is in the woods, not far from the parking area.  Why not stop and pick them up if you haven't already??  When you come to the sign for Forest Hills Loop, I suggest bearing left and follow the trail around and down toward the creek and cache area.  Don't take the trail to Mt Sophie and avoid the trails that criss cross across open fields at the bottom of the loop.  Instead, just stick to the outer trail and you'll be there in no time. After finding the cache and rehiding it well, continue in the direction you were heading and you'll soon arrive at a little picinic area and pond and then on to where the loop began.  Nice little walk.

There is a DCNR hiking staff medallion for FTF.  The container has  plenty of room for travelbugs and other goodies.
I ask that you post a picture of your Geo-dog along with your log and tell the story behind your canine caching buddy.

My Geo-dog is a rescue  who we adopted last fall.  "Augie the Geocaching Doggie" was found wandering around a Bartonsville neighborhood - no collar, no microchip, nobody looking for him.  A kindly soul picked him up, payed to have him boarded at a vet's for a week where Augie recieved immunizations and had his "manhood" removed.  It was on to A.W.S.O.M shelter for him where he was regularly known to scale the outdoor kennels and run to the nearest human.  He's been doing well at training classes at Trifecta kennels.  He gets together with his other doggie buddies once or twice a week there to run and play in daycare.  He can get nervous and defensive when he is on leash (as I keep him when hiking) and is approached by an unfamiliar dog off leash, so please foks, if you let your Geo-dog hike off leash at least be sure to carry one w/ you - Augie and I would both appreciate it. Congratulations to the beautiful Siobhan and her human for her FTF. Atta girl! Good pup!
