Geocache Description:

35mm film can on gamelands

There are a lot of caches on this peninsula and it takes 7 or more miles of walking to get to them all, so most people are tired by the time they leave here. If you need to be tired, this cache location is a good place for it.

I recommend approaching this one from the north or east as there's a pretty deep gully to the south and west of the cache location.

sub32 and I archived 3 caches on this peninsula today due to logging and burning that damaged or destroyed either the caches, their hiding places, or both. In order to keep the cache count in the area the same, I hid three new ones. This is one of them. Unfortunately I wasn't expecting to hide any when I came here, so the only containers I had with me were micros.

To get to the area, take Seaforth Road until just before it ends. Turn left into a single-lane gravel road just before the last house. (It might look like a driveway, but it's actually a road into the public gamelands.) This is a pretty good quality road that any car should be able to handle. There are a few (avoidable) dips, so you do need to watch closely and drive slowly. The gravel road ends in a cul-de-sac at N 35 42.110 W 79 04.156 which is where you should park.

There's a logging road leading from the parking area that will get you most of the way to the cache, but the cache is a good distance off the road so some bushwhacking is required. It's relatively easy bushwhacking though, even in summer. The road can be pretty muddy after it rains, so it's probably best to come out here when it's been relatively dry.

Note that the 2.5 terrain rating is purely due to the greater than 1/2 mile hike required to get from parking to the cache. The terrain itself is closer to a 2.

This should be above lake level no matter how high the lake is, but part of the path to get to it could be under water if the lake level is much higher than 220.0, so you might want to check the lake level before coming out here. (Click here for today's report)

** CAUTION ** This cache is on gamelands. Please take appropriate precautions (e.g. wearing blaze orange) during hunting season.
