Geocache Description:

A Cumbria peak has been declared a mountain after amateur surveyors found it was three quarters of an inch (2cm) higher than originally thought. Thack Moor in the North Pennines, about 12 miles north of Penrith, is 2cm above the 609.6m (2,000ft) mark that signifies mountain status by Ordnance Survey's (OS) definition.

The original idea for placing a cache here, to commemorate Britain's newest mountain, came from Adrian North, in the Cumbrian Cachers Facebook page. Adrian was also responsible for the title.

Parking co-ords are outside the church in Renwick, you can take your car further up the Outhwaite road, but I would NOT recommend it.

From the parking co-ords follow the lane up the hill towards Outhwaite, keep to the left and follow the track.

There is a downloadable PDF here which describes the route plus an A4 map (Which I used when setting the cache).

The cache is approx 3.8KM from the parking co-ords, with an elevation of approx 1300ft, it took us 3 hours up & down, but we did a few stops along the way.
