Geocache Description:

A traditional cache on a cyclepath near the new Gloucester North Fire Station. Can be done as a quick grab or as part of a longer walk from Churchdown or via local cyclepaths.

Gloucester North is one of four new fire stations that Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service have procured as part of their modernisation agenda. The location of this station is ideal for dealing with emergencies that happen north of the city or on the M5 motorway. The station was called Cheltenham Road East throughout the design stage and only got its name shortly before opening. Its sister station is Gloucester South (Shepherd Road) and was built as part of a 4-station package which includes two in Cheltenham. It is identical in internal layout to the new station at Uckington although it has one more bay.

It proved the least controversial throughout its planning, design and build...and I should know, I was there!  

I know I shouldnt need to say this but there is always one out there...the cache IS NOT accessible from the A40. The best parking is just off the roundabout exit for Elmbridge Court business park before you reach the gates. Remember not to cause an obstruction for any farm vehicles needing to get into the nearby fields. Follow the cyclepath under the road and your GPS will do the rest!
