Geocache Description:

The weather is getting warm, pollen is slowing, time to get the kayaks and canoes out to hit the canal once again this year.

LAUNCH: 0800 Savannah Rapids Pavillon 19 MAY 2013

If you havent been on the canal for one of the group paddles this is a good opportunity to come out and have a blast with a bunch of fun caching water-dogs for a day of paddling along the canal. All non-cachers are welcome as well.
The course is a very easy one to drift in the cool water with the warm sun and good company. Non-cachers are even welcome

REMEMBER there is inherent risk with paddling based on a persons kayak/canoe abilities and swiming skills. Lifevests are HIGHLY recommended.

Coordinates are for the launch location and pick up location, so coordination for vehicles needs to be done before getting in the water.
Course will take about 3-4 hours depending on caching times and is about 7 miles in length. The water is flat and it's a really nice paddle, even for beginners.

Paddlers are expected to bring thier own water transportation, paddling equipment (paddle, lifevests), water, sunscreen, snacks.

Dont have a kayak or canoe? No worries, rentals are available.
Escape Outdoors 706-869-8080 rent kayaks and canoes, they do not provide transportation unless it is a large group.
There are also rentals at the launch point. They provide takeout return transportation but the take out point for them will be the boat lanuch on Lake Olmestead.

Dont want to paddle? Hikers and bikers are always welcome with a number of caches also avialble for the landlubbers. We would ask that those deciding this route to start early, especially the hikers, so that we can meet up at the end.

Because there are potentialy two take out points (rental people), group photos will be taken before the event when everyone is still pretty....lol

I am adding two more names to the official FTF (First to Flip) Golden Flipper plaqu
e. This was a tradition of recognizing paddler to paddler that I started when I was the first to flip in Aug of 2008. A handfull have inadvertantly gotten wet and joined the club, then added to the plaque.
