Miles, który linią swojego życia połączył "prehistoryczne" już prawie czasy Charliego Parkera ze współczesnymi Darryla Jonesa, kojarzonego dzisiaj ze Stingiem, Rolling Stonesami czy Peterem Gabrielem. Bez Milesa nie byłoby Bebopu czy Cool Jazzu. Gdzie indziej wylądowaliby John Coltraine, Gil Evans, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Dave Holland, Marcus Miller, Joe Zawinul, Jack de Johnette, Keith Jarrett, John McLaughlin, Bill Evans, John Scofield i wielu wielu innych. Niejeden prywatny regał z płytami byłby uboższy. Kiedy Miles odszedł, można było tylko powiedzieć to, co powiedział jeden z jego "wychowanków", Marcus Miller: the King is gone.

Kesz jest bardzo prostym drive-inem - biorąc pod uwagę, że naprzeciw pomnika można wygodnie zaparkować.
Jedna bardzo ważna sprawa: z Waszego logu chciałbym dowiedzieć się, jaka płyta lub jaki kawałek Milesa utkwiły Wam w pamięci. Dla mnie niezapomnianymi pozostaną Walkin’, ’Round About Midnight, Kind of Blue, Ascenseur pour l’échafaud, E.S.P., Aura, In a Silent Way, Bitches Brew, You’re Under Arrest, Tutu, Dingo i Doo-Bop. Jednocześnie większość płyt Davea Hollanda, Keitha Jarretta i Johna Scofielda, których uwielbiam. No i - w książkowej formie - Autobiografia, wznowiona przed kilku laty w Polsce w doskonałym tłumaczeniu Filipa Łobodzińskiego, którą Wam gorąco polecam. Gdybym miał nazwać trzech muzyków jazzowych, bez których muzyki nie mógłbym się obejść, to Miles, obok Keitha Jarretta i Charlesa Mingusa otwiera tą Trójcę. Odkąd usłyszałem o pomniku w Kielcach, miałem nadzieję, że uda mi się kiedyś postawić tu kesza. Cytując jeden z tutułów jego płyt:

Wer kennt nicht diese Trompete? Oder zumindest ein Stück von Miles, das einem ins Ohr und Seele fiel? Miles: dessen Leben zu einer Brücke wurde, zwischen den heute beinahe prähistorischen Zeiten eines Charlie Parker und den modernen eines Darryl Jones - der heute eher mit Sting, Rolling Stones oder Peter Gabriel assoziiert werde. Ohne Miles gebe es keinen Bebop und keinen Cool Jazz. Woanders gelandet wären John Coltraine, Gil Evans, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Dave Holland, Marcus Miller, Joe Zawinul, Jack de Johnette, Keith Jarrett, John McLaughlin, Bill Evans, John Scofield und viele andere. Manch eine private Plattensammlung wäre nicht so umfangreich, wie sie ist. Nach Davis Tod konnte man nur noch das sagen, was einer seiner musikalischen Jünger, Marcus Miller, ausdrückte: the King is gone.

Dieser Cache ist ein einfacher Drive-in - da man gegenüber des Denkmals bequem parken darf. Gleichzeitig wurde der Container so versteckt, dass auch behinderte Personen den Behälter ohne Probleme schnappen können.
Eine Sache ist mir bei diesem Cache besonders wichtig: aus eurem Log möchte ich gerne erfahren, welche Platte oder welches Musikstück von Miles euch besonders in Erinnerung blieb. Für mich unvergesslich bleiben Walkin’, ’Round About Midnight, Kind of Blue, Ascenseur pour l’échafaud, E.S.P., Aura, In a Silent Way, Bitches Brew, You’re Under Arrest, Tutu, Dingo und Doo-Bop. Gleichzeitig beinahe alles, was Dave Holland, Keith Jarrett und John Scofield auf die Beine stellten, da ich sie - musikalisch - vergöttere. Last but not least - als Buch - die Autobiographie dieser Jazz-Legende, die ich euch ans Herz legen möchte (falls ihr diese nicht kennt). Sollte ich drei Musiker nennen, deren Musik - mir - als lebensnotwendig erscheint, würde Miles, neben Keith Jarrett und Charles Mingus, dieses Trio eröffnen. Seit ich erfuhr, dass dieses Denkmal in Kielce steht, hoffte ich, `ne Chance zu bekommen, hier einen Cache zu legen. Einen seiner Plattentitel zitierend: We want Miles!

Who doesn't recognize the sound of this trumpet? Who doesn't know at least one catchy and memorable piece by Davis? Miles' life and work established a link between the almost "prehistoric" times of Charlie Parker with the modern style of Darryl Jones, who is nowadays associated with Sting, Rolling Stones or Peter Gabriel. Without Miles, Bebop and Cool Jazz simply wouldn't exist. Without him, artists like John Coltraine, Gil Evans, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Dave Holland, Marcus Miller, Joe Zawinul, Jack de Johnette, Keith Jarrett, John McLaughlin, Bill Evans, John Scofield and many others would be in a completely different place. And many private music collections would be much poorer. When Miles passed away, the words of one his "apprentices", Marcus Miller, seemed most appropriate: the King is gone. And now you're standing right in front of a Miles Davis' memorial statue in Kielce! This city can really surprise you.

If I were to name three jazz artists whose music I couldn't do without, I would most definitely start with Miles, followed by Keith Jarrett and Charles Mingus.
