A cache located via one of Ringmer's less used footpaths, running across the area once occupied by an ancient deer park, The Broyle.
The footpath can be approached either from the North, off Harvey's Lane, or from the South, off The Broyle.
Before 1767 the whole of this area was owned and hunted by the Dukes of Dorset from Knole who stayed in the original building at Upper Lodge when visiting. After 1767 the Broyle Enclosure Act was passed and half of the former deer park was divided between the tenants for cultivation. Three public footpaths were established into the park and had to be 60 feet wide, you can see the original width of this one at the northern end of footpath 26 near Mount Farm.
A useful contact if you find the footpath difficult to pass or badly maintained is the Right of Way Access Team at East Sussex County Council 0345 60 80 193
