Geocache Description:

My first cache hide is a small aluminium bison tube in an area not imediately recognised for it's local attractions. However, if you take the time, there are some interesting and remarkable landmarks that we locals often take for granted and overlook.

From the cache location you can see two interesting landmarks distinguishing the area of Hoo Brook.

The first is a rememberance memorial which was erected by local people in honour of Hoo Brook men who gave their lives in WW1 1914 - 1918. It lists the names of those men and in particular a Pte Francis Perry. The Forces War Records hold details of a Francis Perry, aged 24, who served in the Gloucestershire Regiment and was the son of Alfred and Sarah Ann Perry of Hoo Brook, Kidderminster. Pte Perry lost his life on the 9th of November 1916.

The second is the Kidderminster Viaduct. The original construction was a wooden viaduct which had been built between 1851 and 1852 and was first used when the initial 36 mile section of the Oxford, Worcester & Wolverhampton Railway (including Kidderminster) was opened on 1 May 1852. It was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel but eventually became very unsafe so was replaced with the one you see today. The new viaduct was built 1883 - 1885 and runs for some 315 meters. It has 20 high arches and was built using approximately 7 million blue bricks. The last time that steam trains ran on this line was 1962/63.

You are looking for a small aluminium bison tube. There are businesses & a couple of shops in the vicinity as well as a busy road near by, so beware of muggles. Parking is available along the road that the cache is in but it can sometimes be quite busy.
