Welcome to Lake Houston Wilderness Park. The Three Amigos' series consists of more than 50 caches placed along roads and trails in the park. The majority of caches are intended to be easy to find and are generally only a short distance into the tree line from the trails and roads. To complete the series will require a hike or bike trek of in excess of 12 miles. The final distance traveled will, of course, depend on the order in which the caches are hunted. Some, but not all, caches may be accessed by driving, however, a bicycle is the best means of reaching the caches. The terrain is generally flat and the trails are not difficult to ride or walk. The terrain numbers of the caches are lower in the vicinity of the park headquarters and main parking area, but increase for certain caches, primarily in the far reaches of the park.
A special word of thanks to djbtex for supplying The Three Amigos with at least 50 of the caches placed for this series.
Standard Texas woodland caveats apply: You may encounter any or all of the usual denizens of the forests in the area such a venomous reptiles, ticks, mosquitoes, fire ants, feral hogs, poisonous plants, etc. Bring plenty of liquids, particularly in warmer weather. This is a wilderness park and water and other creature comforts are only available in the vicinity of park headquarters.
