Geocache Description:

This little grab and go cache has been placed on this connecting east/west road in South Ottawa for the CITO event on April 27, at 9:15 AM. Finding this cache before then will make more than your grapes be sour.

Driving through eastern Ontario one can easily spot wild grape vines. They line the fences and cling to the shrubbery. But I wonder how many of us really stop and take notice of the small, fleshy fruit that slowly develops over the hot days of summer. When bushwhacking through the woods we are usually more concerned with removing the vines which have somehow or other wound around our neck. In the late fall you might consider harvesting these tasty grapes and consider the following recipe. The resulting flavour and texture of grape jelly is a taste to behold, on toast or fresh buns, it can’t be beat. After a good frost and less daylight, the leaves fall leaving a soft, pliable vine that makes excellent wreaths for all occassions. Watch for the poison parsnip during July and August.
