 A água dá a vida. Todos os seres vivos, o Homem, os animais e as plantas, precisam de água para sobreviver. Os seres vivos são constituídos por células, estas são constituídos em grande parte, por água. A água é fundamental para a alimentação dos seres. Por isso sem água não há vida. A água serve para: beber, preparar os alimentos, regar as plantas, tomar banho, lavar. Nos locais onde há mais água há mais vida. É o caso dos oceanos, onde há muitos peixes e há mais vegetação e vida animal. No deserto há só areia, sem vida, porque não há água. Na Lua e nos outros planetas não se conhecem sinais de vida, porque não há água no estado líquido. Na terra há dois tipos de água: a doce e a salgada. A água doce existe nos rios, nas nascentes e quando chove. A água salgada existe nos mares e oceanos. Há também águas chamadas minerais, que se encontram nos termas e que são próprias para o tratamento de certas doenças.
