Geocache Description:

Welcome to the once busy Goyder Railway Station( although by the locals it was refered to as the Beaufort Railway Siding).
The Broad gauge first passsed through this area in 1923 and as it was a farming area that is what was transported. The cereal grains were bagged on the farm, weighed and rebagged at the station yards before being stacked ready for transport to Port Adelaide. All other farm produce was (eggs and cream) was first transported to Bowmans, transfered to the narrow gauge and then delivered to Balaklava. There were no livestock yards here, livestock was loaded at Nantawarra or at the much larger station at Bowmans.
There was a small station building at this site, at one end was the area for the passengers and produce and at the other was the exchange so that the porters could contact the next station in either direction to advise of departure. There was also a loading platform for the grain and a 3.5 ton crane.
As time progressed and roads became more prominent and transportation to other areas openned up, this station became non profitable and in 1960 the Station was dismantled as was any remaining railway equipment.
You are looking for a workmans stainless steel flask, it must have been left by one of the last porters, lol (only joking, it was left by me).
I would like to thank my uncle, Des McAuliffe, as he worked here and told me a lot about what I have written. Be aware that trains pass near here on a regular basis, so take care of any children
