Roundup Event Details:

This was such a nice venue back in 2008 and there are so many trails to explore in the area, we decided to come back to Burning Bear again this year. Meet up at the posted coordinates along Guanella Pass Road at 5:00 pm for a fun evening of eatin', hanging out with fellow geocachers and telling 4x4 tales.

Make sure you bring chairs and a beverage of your choice. A "Cowboy Dinner" (loosely speaking) will be provided but there will also be a grill set up if you want to throw a slab of meat on it. All geocachers are encouraged to attend the Roundup event, regardless of participation in the daytime 4x4 run.

Note: There are bathrooms at the event site. Also, this event is not officially a camping event but camping is available for a fee on a first come first served basis at Burning Bear Campground and just up Guanella Pass Road at Geneva Park Campground.

If you plan to go on the daytime 4x4 run, that's great, but if not, you should still plan to spend the day in the mountains prior to the Roundup event. There will be plenty to do for the day, including:

» Explore the area around Grant, CO.
» Enjoy one of the many activities available in the South Park/Fairplay area.
» Hang out at the event area (Chat with others who will be there for the day, sit back and enjoy the mountain
air, have a picnic, read a book, play horseshoes).

»
Make a caching run over Guanella Pass (Spend the morning caching around Idaho Springs and Georgetown
and then make the beautiful drive over Guanella Pass to the campground on the other side of the pass).

» Spend the day caching and exploring along route 285 (There are lots of things to see and many caches to
be found along 285 from Bailey to Fairplay).

»
Plan your own adventure for the day.

Dinner will be served at approximately 6:00 pm.

The bear was carved and graciously donated by jmike for the 2007 4x4 event raffle. Sting25 won it at that event after having a little mishap on the trail during that day. Sting25 agreed to give the bear up to the next victim lucky person and the plan was hatched to make the bear an annual award. mondou2 won the bear at the 2012 4x4 event. Who will win it this year and what mishap accomplishment will it be awarded for?
