Geocache Description:

To the summit of Mt. Maroon you will go. A climb of over 700m. You will be rewarded with the best views of Mt. Barney - hence the name of this cache. You will also need to collect the clues to work out where the actual container is hidden.

Mt. Maroon is no walk in the park and a good level of fitness and bush navigation skills are required. It is a wilderness area, tracks are not graded, the track is rocky and steep. Take well equipped pack incl, first aid, water, food and wet weather gear. Tell someone where you are going before you set out and do not attempt this climb in very bad weather. Allow a good 5 hours to to enjoy this magnificent mountain. Access is from the car park at the end of Cotswold Road. At WP1 is the metal fence separating the car park from the NP boundary. C = The number vertical posts in the fence D= The number of horizontal rungs in the fence x 3. At the published coordinates on the summit of Mt Maroon you will find the remains of an old survey marker carved into the rock in the shape of an arrow pointing to a number of small metal objects embedded into the rock.
