Geocache Description:



This cache is located in the northern section of Grant Woods Forest Preserve which is open 6:30 am to dusk. Parking available is available 1/4 mile east of the intersection of Grand Ave and Route 59.There are 6 miles of trails here, most of which have a crushed-gravel surface. In winter, snowmobilers have access to 4.5 miles of trails that tie into adjacent snowmobile trails on private land. One mile of grass trail in the far northeastern section of the preserve can be accessed from Cedar Lake Road. The trail extends to Fairfield Road, across from Lake Villa Township's Caboose Park. Crushed- gravel trails are appropriate for hiking/biking. Link to Grant Woods Forest Preserve map follows in a later section. Bushwhacking is required to find the cache. Beware the thorns and occational barbed wire fences! Open prairies, quiet woodlands and marshes are teeming with wildlife including abundant  deer population.
