Lewisporte, named after Lewis Miller an important loggiing businessman, was formely known as Marshville or Burnt Bay and was an important base during the war years. After the war the community became an important center for shipping and delivery by both sea and rail. These aforementioned services allowed Lewisporte to become the hub of the surrounding communites in the region.
The cache is located on a sign depicting a vessel which once hailed Lewisporte as its home for many years and provided transportation for goods and people to Labrador. There is a small gravel access road that allows you to pull up within 15m or so of ground zero.
