The event will begin with an introduction to the GPS and geocaching.
A limited number of GPS units will be available for those who don't have one and would like to find out more about this fun and addictive family friendly activity.
Several new caches will be unveiled and made available for finding throughout the Zoo area for this event.
- Introduction to GPS and Geocaching: 12:00 noon at the Zoo Classroom
- Geocache Challenge: 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
- Potluck supper and draw prizes: 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Picnic Site #3 located between the soccer field and volleyball courts
Food is available at the Tundra Grill and snack shacks for purchase, and picnic tables are available throughout the zoo for those who prefer to bring their own lunch.
A sheltered area and picnic spot has been reserved for our group, and fire pits will be available for people to cook their own burgers and hot dogs. Please feel free to bring your favourite side dish to share (salads, desserts, munchies).
Admission or membership to the Assiniboine Park Zoo is required to participate in the Cache Challenge.
Admission Costs to the zoo:
Adults (18-59 years): $8.50
Seniors (60+ years): $6.40
Youth (13-17 years): $6.40
Children (2-12 years): $5.50
Under 2 years: Free
Please note: All current zoo caches will only be available until Monday, May 20, 2013.
Prizes: to qualify for a draw prize you will need to pick up a puzzle/scavenger page at the zoo classroom. Answers are found on boards inside the zoo area.
