Geocache Description:

Tutana Monastery

Going from Pitesti towards Curtea de Arges, passing through Baiculesti, you may see a roadsign towards Tutana Monastery.

A beautiful church, formely monastery,  has a long and troubled history. Dated since XIV-th century, it was rebuilt several times (one time even by Mihai the Brave).

The monastery is worth to be remembered for the strange picture on a brick, more than 400 years old, of what is believed to be an alien with some characters like a text message, for the large number of crosses placed near roadside crucifixes, a strange habbit of the villagers, mainly for lighting candles without going to the graves.

In a more hilarious and abnormal note, possible only in Romania, the church's parson is famous for being the first 'religious malpraxis' defendant, due to not being able to cleanse bad spirits from an apartment and a TV set.

The church's parson keeps tracks with the times and created even a Facebook page and a blog dedicated to the monastery.

Hope you will enjoy the visit!

*Please, be really stealth and place the cache preciselly where you have found it! The sign is NOT magnetic, but the holder is.*
