Letterbox Hybrids pay homage to the old scavenger hunt of Letterboxing. Letterboxing typically involves starting at one point and following directions to a final location, which is more like a multi than a traditional. This cache pays specific homage to that characteristic of Letterboxing. (Most letterbox hybrids in this area model the traditional cache type, but I've seen other parts of the country where following directions to the final is the norm.)
Directions updated 6/11/2022. From the posted coordinates walk southwest along the paved path. At about 40 feet take the dirt trail that rises on the right. Climb the trail past two switchbacks; the second one has a nice bench upon which you can take a break. (Please remember to never cut a switchback; it promotes erosion and eventually ruins the trail.) Shortly after the second switchback the trail will begin to climb and you will see a lesser trail leaving on your left. Take this trail to the left and travel for about 80 feet at which point you will pass between two trees. About 20 feet after that the cache will be on your right, a couple small steps off the trail at the base of a fern in a very rotted stump. Please be kind to the fern and stump and replace the cache so it cannot be seen from the trail.
The cache contains a stamp that stays with the cache and may be used to stamp your personal Letterboxing book. The log book is designed to provide a good medium for your personal stamp, if you have one.
