Geocache Description:

There is only one way to this cache and this is through an outta this world/are we still in Wanganui? bamboo track. The cache at the end is an added bonus.

Due to the devastating flood in June 2015 this cache has changed from the 'maze' field puzzle cache to a small container. This will hopefully ensure the cache isn't washed away like it has done so twice before. The 'maze' field puzzle cache has been moved further down the river and now resides in a cache aptly called No Flood here.

Important
Ensure you start from the Premium Parking waypoint (see below). This will ensure you are on the right side of Branch River.

WARNING: There is a small amount of cutty grass at GZ. Please be careful.

  • The panda is native to China.
  • Under its fur, the skin of a panda is black where its fur is black; and pink where its fur is white.
  • 99% of a panda’s diet is bamboo. Pandas absorb only 20%-30% of bamboo nutrients. This means the panda has to eat most of the time it is awake to get enough nutrients to survive.
  • Pandas do not hibernate because their bamboo diet will not allow them to build up enough fat reserves for the winter.
  • On average, a panda eats 10kg of bamboo in one day.
  • A panda’s throat has a special lining to protect it from bamboo splinters.
  • A panda can peel and eat a bamboo shoot in about 40 seconds

There is a FTF prize but it will remain a mystery.

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or emoticon logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.
