St. Hart's 'Hood: Trail West End Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

St. Hart: After travelling most of July and now home a few days, I had a replacement container ready to go. I drove to GZ and discovered that nearby road work had unexpectedly impacted something 2 feet from GZ and broke a bunch of branches making entry to the hidey spot a little treacherous. I was going to relocate nearby and update coordinates, but then I thought "new coordinates, new container, very different container type, new logsheet — it sounds like a new cache." Plus, it's August. Thus, after trying 2 short-lived caches here at the west trailhead, let's call it two strikes and see if we can avoid the third. Look for a very-soon new cache publication in the same 'Hood.

Geocache Description:

Overview: Very near the west end of the trail between the Hollywood Riviera section of Torrance and PVE where we have hidden 16 other caches. The cache is well concealed, and you're looking for something you would probably say is out of place. It is a cache type (inspired by a NakoTacoPatrol hide we found in 2011, half a year into our geocaching career – yet, a little different) newbies may not have seen before. Not recommended at night. A most-common TOTT is recommended.

Kudos to mpulele for his 2nd FTF in our 'Hood
(two caches 13 months apart, separated by only 0.1 mile – Do you live near here?)
We populated our neighborhood (the Hollywood Riviera) with geocaches, and as of Spring 2012 had built up a 17-cache power series on or near this 2-mile trail heading east from the north end of the parking lot near here. We had a now-archived cache near here ("St. Hart's 'Hood: West Trailhead") – originally camo'd & velcro'd onto a PVE landmark book-ending our cache at the east end of the trail. That cache was lost in March of 2013 and would have remained too exposed due to landscaping activity around the landmark. I have figured out that without that cache, there's now room for one more on the trail plus one on the perpendicular trail heading south beyond that landmark ("St. Hart's 'Hood: Beyond West Trailhead"), and this is the one at the end of "my" trail.

There is a parking very near the cache, in a lot right along PV Blvd. Traffic flying by on PV Blvd. won't notice you, but keep an eye out for on-foot muggles (glance up the trail east to be sure no one is coming before diving off the trail) and for those in parked cars.

Log-only; bring your own writing utensil. A familiar TOTT is needed to extract the logsheet; the cache has such a TOTT built in but I don't expect it to last, so bring your own TOTT. Please replace the cache where you find it.
