Geocache Description:

Anderson Beach - lots of free parking - let your dog run but this is Bear and Cougar country.
This cache is placed near the trail head leading down to the Squamish River that moves now and then.

Sapsuckers don't actually suck sap - they lap it up with a fringed tongue tip that resembles a paintbrush. They drill tidy, parallel lines of 'wells" in the bark of trees. The wells fill up with sap, which attracts insects, giving the sapsucker the choice between sweet sap or tasty bugs.
The Red Breasted Sapsucker is a stunning, noisy woodpecker with a solid red head and breast and a black and white body. It resembles the Red-headed Woodpecker of the east and is often mistakenly called by that name.
The sexes look the same
