An easy walk on a railbed and associated trails. Kid friendly.
Several decades ago when I first moved to Henniker, an old timer allowed as how I’d missed seeing the last train in town. That, he said, was in 1939.
As you walk, look for the old fence on the side of the railbed farthest from the Contoocook River. The fence helped keep wildlife off the tracks. Farther along, note the abutments that once supported a railroad bridge.
The cache is located off the railroad bed, “off track.”
On-street parking is available at listed Parking coordinates. Vehicles parked at locations closer to the trail may be subject to towing.
