Geocache Description:

Mega Scotland 2014

Whitelee Windfarm is the UK's largest onshore windfarm. It is located on Eaglesham Moor just 20 minutes from central Glasgow. The windfarm has 215 turbines which can generate 539MW of electricity, enough to power over 300,000 homes.




Whitelee Windfarm has its own Countryside Ranger Service, the rangers are based in a cabin beside the Visitor Centre and are here to help you enjoy the outdoors and make the most of your visit to Whitelee.

Throughout 2013 they will be hosting a series of fantastic FREE events, including our first Geocache Dash.

What?
A few hours to have fun, meet a few people and to try and encourage others to come along and give geocaching a try around Whitelee Windfarm.

With the opportunity to become a real life treasure hunter! Navigate your way through Whitelee’s first adrenalin fuelled outdoor treasure hunt in this fun filled family day of geocaching aimed at everyone from firsttimers to experts! Will your map skills be good enough to uncover the hidden treasure or will your expedition flounder?

In addition to the existing caches within the windfarm, the Whitelee Countryside Rangers hope to place a few more caches which would go live before the event. See the Whitelee Windfarm Bookmark List for caches currently active around the windfarm or nearby.

Don't forget to bring TB's along for logging or swapping and share your geo-chat over a cup of tea or coffee in the cafe.

When?
11:00 - 13:00, Sunday June 9th 2013.

Who?
Suitable for families, all are welcome especially anyone new to Geocaching.
