Geocache Description:

Just a little geocache full of swag. Bring a pencil! Take some swag, leave some swag.

Lake McMurtry is owned by City of Stillwater and operated by the non-profit organization, Lake McMurtry Friends, Inc. The Lake serves as a flood control reservoir, water supply and recreation area. At normal pool elevation (952), the Lake covers approximately 1,300 acres, with 2,100 acres of additional surrounding park land. Water depths range from 55 feet near the dam to less than 20 feet on the north end.

Lake McMurtry has 27 miles of shoreline and has been stocked by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation with bluegill, bass, catfish, walleye and saugeye.

Lake McMurtry has plenty of things to do. Biking, fishing, hiking, swimming, boating, canoeing, kayaking, hunting, watchable wildlife and they are about to open a brand new disc golf course. The trails around the lake are perfect for a little afternoon hike or bikeride. They also have many longer trails if you're looking to make a weekend out of it. This is the perfect spot to get away while not going too far. Just outside of Stillwater it is still convenient for Tulsa and Oklahoma City folks looking to get out. With the summer season soon approaching come look for this cache and move on to the lake!
