Geocache Description:

On top of Caribou Ridge, hidden in a tupperware container. This cache is not recommended for children, and is not too good for dogs either. See below.

Please Note: I no longer live in the area, having headed for the snow-free winters of western Oregon. If someone would care to upgrade the container or otherwise maintain the cache, it would be most appreciated.

We did this hike on March 31, and were eventually turned back by snow, although you can get to the cache without too much trouble.

The hike is 2 miles one way and gains approx 1000 feet in elevation. The trail is narrow, and though there are no severe cliffs, you would roll for quite a while if you took a spill over the side. There are dozens on down trees early in the season before seasonal cleanup begins, which adds a bit more of a challenge. The ice storm of a few years back has left many more than usual towards the bottom. Your first obstacle is a stream of ice cold run off about 12 feet wide and 18 inches deep. You'll want to take your shoes off or change them on the other side - cold feet are not good.

From here the trail switchbacks for about 1.7 miles to the top of the ridge and great views of Beauty Bay can be seen along the way.

Now that I've made it sound difficult let me on the other hand say that the switchbacks are very gradual and you will probably be surprised how easy it can be to climb to the top of a ridge such as this.
