Geocache Description:

Even though white-tailed deer are a very common resident of this park, there are many other species of deer that are not seen here. This cache is dedicated to one of those species.

The pudús are two species of South American deer from the genus Pudu, and are the world's smallest deer, with the southern pudú being slightly larger than the northern pudú. It has a stocky frame supported by four short and slender legs. Males have short, spiked antlers that are not forked, as seen in most species of deer. Pudús have small hooves, dewclaws, and a short tail. Coat coloration varies with season, gender, and individual genes. The fur is long and stiff, typically pressed close to the body, with a reddish brown to dark brown hue. The neck and shoulders of an aged pudú turn a dark gray-brown in the winter. The pudús inhabits temperate rainforests in South America, where the dense underbrush and bamboo thickets offer protection from predators.

Cache is a small sized, clear container hidden in a typical manner. Please use stealth as you may be seen from the trail. Bring your own writing utensil. Hide back as found and properly concealed.

The cache is located not far from the trail so bushwhacking further than that is not necessary and is discouraged to reduce impact on the environment. Please replace as found. You must sign the logbook in order to claim credit for this find.

Please park at the coordinates shown in the Waypoint table and start your walk at the Trail head coordinates. There are other parking areas and trail access points available also.

Enjoy your walk, hike or bike ride along the "Purr Fect" trail. Plenty of nature's wonders to see along the way. We have placed other caches for you to find while you make your way along this trail!
