Geocache Description:

One of a set of small, family orientated caches placed to memorialize the great Physicists of the past.

James Clerk Maxwell (1831 – 1879) was a Scottish mathematician and physicist. His most prominent achievement was formulating the Classical Theory of Electromagnetism. This united the previously unrelated observations, experiments and equations of electricity, magnetism and optics into a single consistent theory. Maxwell's Equations demonstrated that electricity, magnetism and light are all manifestations of Electromagnetic fields.

Another of Maxwell's major areas of research was the kinetic theory of gases. Here he independently formulated the Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution (the energy distribution of molecules in a gas). This laid the foundation of future fields of study such as Statistical Mechanics and Quantum Mechanics.

Park in the provided spaces at the recommended coordinates. Please do not block the circle or the gate.
