Geocache Description:

This circular walk is on public footpaths and bridleways in a Ministry of Defence training area.   The terrain is mostly on the level and on good surfaces. However, some of the paths can get very muddy in wet weather. Troops exercise in the woods day and night. It is essential that you do not stray off the marked routes. The area is very popular with local families and dog walkers, so stealth will needed when searching for and hiding caches.

REINDEN WALK

As we placed the caches the sun was shining and the woods were thickly carpeted with bluebells and white wood anemones. We wanted to share the joys of this beautiful woodland with you all. It is a perfect place for geofamilies and geohounds to enjoy. We have seen the seasonal changes many times and it is still a favourite place for us to take a leisurely stroll whenever the mood takes us. It is a place filled with happy memories where the sun is always shining in our recollections.

There have been many improvements made to the surface of the tracks and new footpaths have been created to join everything into a complete circuit called Reinden Walk. Signs have been erected along the way to educate people about the plant and birdlife.  Work is currently underway to remove many of the pine trees as well as other varieties due for culling. Clearance will let light into many areas and allow the bluebells and plant life to flourish. Native trees are to be planted to replace the pines.

Reinden Wood is on the right hand side of the A260 in the direction of Canterbury, between the villages of Hawkinge and Densole. There is a turning into a small car park at N51° 07.482  E001°09. 696.

This is a pretty circular woodland walk of approximately 2 miles. It is a haven for unusual plants as well as home to a wide variety of birds including nightingales.

We found that the GPS signal jumped about crazily in many areas. Just as we thought we had a solid reading at a cache site, it would change again. We have added clues to make it easier for you to keep to the route and to ensure that you reach the correct place to search for the caches.  There are seven caches in this series. We didn't want to place any more until the tree felling and re-planting work has been completed. You will pass close to another cache on the route (GC378Z8 Reinden Ramble) to add to your tally, if you have not been to these woods before.

Reinden Walk….The First

Take the track from the car park to the above co-ordinates.  This track can get very muddy after heavy rainfall. This should bring you to another footpath on the left hand side near a garden fence with green netting. There is a yellow disk with a footpath direction arrow.  The cache is situated at ground level on the left hand corner at the start of this track.  You are looking for a tiny pot in a camouflage bag.
You will need your own pen.
