Celebrating our 100th find. Jonah and I worked on this one together. This is the 2nd of 4 caches in Witt Swamp Preserve. The first 3 caches each have a clue for the forth cache: GC4BZX.
Witt Swamp Preserve
My family found this trail and knew it needed to have caches on it. So we put together our creative minds to give you the several caches in it. When we started caching in the winter of 2012, we found there were not many winter friendly caches in this area. So, we vowed to make all of our caches snow friendly so geocaching can happen all year long. We hope you enjoy.
The Witt Swamp trail head is on the west side of Pleasant Street, approximately 1.1 miles north of Main Street, across from Emerson Street. see coordinates.
The Trust purchased the parcel in 2004 from a subsequent owner. In 2011–2012 volunteers created a mile-long Witt Swamp loop trail for the community’s quiet enjoyment. The trail meanders through hemlock, oak, birch and cedar woodlands, and includes a cedar boardwalk, stone steps, and numerous explores amongst boulders, erratics, and bedrock. There is a small kiosk at the trail head. In the spring time wildflowers are plentiful, and in the autumn, a variety of mushrooms abound. We ask that visitors respect and do not disturb the natural features of the Preserve.
