in our disclaimer.
We think the libraries are s a treasure in their communities. This series of caches will introduce you
to each of those treasures in Jackson County. Find one of the Geocaches placed at each one of the
Jackson District Library 13 Branch locations.
The Eastern Branch was affiliated with the Jackson public Library and started before 1914. In
1942 the library moved to Orange Street in a building provided by Mr. Gilbert Knibloe.
In 1985 the Jackson district Library received a LSCA Title II grant to be used for the
construction of a new building. The operations of the Eastern and Michigan Center branches
were merged in 1987 when a new, larger facility on the east side of Jackson was opened.
Cache Seekers DO NOT need a library card nor make any purchases to participate in the Library's
Geocache hides.
The above coordinates will lead the cacher to a first stage cache on Library property. Each first
stage will be different, size, terrain, difficulty and container. A note will provide you the title or
call number of the book on the shelf somewhere inside the Library branch. The cacher will either
need to ask a librarian or use the Library's computer catalog system to locate the book/cache on the
shelf. The Dewey decimal number and title for each book/cache is different for each Library branch.
Therefore, the experience will be quite different for each cache attempt.
Please be aware of posted Library hours, as each branch is different. The first stage caches are
available 24-hours a day. Security cameras are on site; however, all library staff and security
personnel are aware of Geocachers and the cache locations.
The idea for this geocache came from the Toledo-Lucas County Ohio Public Library,
The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library was the first known library to place GeoCaches in their
Library's computer catalog system as searchable materials.
The Geocaches, however, CANNOT be checked out and are flagged by the system as materials that
cannot leave the library.
Please DO NOT leave anything in the cache, but do feel free to take a bookmark or other Library
SWAG. Be sure to sign the logbook.
Please be mindful of others that are using the Library for normal purposes. You shouldn't need to
use too much stealth to conceal your activities from muggles. Pulling a book off of a shelf will not
draw too much attention your way. Be sure to place the outside cache back exactly where you found
it.
Have fun and ENJOY YOUR LIBRARY!

Angry Bird Studies and Lives here! GC3FMT8 . Was previously placed by bsagene and although not
part of the Jackson District Library Treasure caches it is related.
The Henrietta branch started in 1982 as part of the Jackson District Library. The library was to
serve the residents of the northeast quadrant of the county and replace the bookmobile that had
been inherited from the Jackson Public Library.
Henrietta Township donated the land and a modular classroom was moved onto the site. Find hours of various branches at http://www.myjdl.com/Locations
