Geocache Description:

This cache was put out by Team Cache Divers in celebration of their Big 10 Anniversary. Even though the event was planned it had to be cancelled due to Geowoodstock being the next weekend. But we decided to put the caches out for our friends anyways.

This is a micro cache and may be harder to find than most of them. It is along the bike trail in Myakka River State Park. Please use your best stealth and recover it so it doesn't get muggled.

10 Items to Take with You Geocaching

A incomplete listing, but a good start of things to bring with you geocaching!

  • # 10. Retrieval tools - Small pair of needle nose pliers are really handy when you try to get the log out of that extremely small cache.
  • # 9. Sanitizer - Okay you just pulled that cache out of some nasty, smelly, and gross hole and signed the log, now what. Whip out that sanitizer and stop smelling like Poo!
  • #8. Bug Spray - While you might not be in an area with a lot of mosquito's (where is that in Florida?) but other pests will be repelled from it as well. No-see-um’s and Horseflies (which we encountered here on the hiking trail) will also stay away if used liberally.
  • #7. Swag - You never know when you will come across something in a cache that you just have to have, and nothing to trade for it, so it's best to take some swag with you for your trade items.
  • #6. A Partner - While you can geocache alone, it is so much more fun to share your experiences with someone else. Also it helps to have an extra set of eyes.
  • #5. PDA or Smart Phone - To truly go paperless, you need one of these so you’re not lugging around a huge notebook filled with printed out cache pages (As we did when we first started, but it made it hard to go after ones that we hadn't printed).
  • #4. Small Notepad - It is great for taking notes, and doubles as a way to replace a soaking wet log when needed.
  • #3. Pen(s) - One is absolutely necessary, but more than one is preferred.
  • #2. Groundspeak Premium Membership - While you can cache for free, having a premium membership is truly worth the money to get all the extra features needed to make your cache experience so much better.
  • #1. GPS Receiver - Of course you can't do without one of these, although some caches can be found using Google maps, but not out in the deep woods. Whether it be a Garmin, Magellan, or Cell Phone this is the number one thing to have as a Geocacher.
