How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

This cache was put out by Team Cache Divers in celebration of their Big 10 Anniversary. Even though the event was planned it had to be cancelled due to Geowoodstock being the next weekend. But we decided to put the caches out for our friends anyways.

This is on the “hiking only” trail in Myakka River State Park. This is micro cache and will be a little harder than the others.

Please recover it so it doesn't get muggled.

10 Reasons we LOVE Geocaching

As the same as our dislike page, there are things we like that others might not.

While we all might have similarities, each person has their own likes and dislikes and we are just sharing our likes with this listing. We hope you can relate and/or understand where we are coming from. – Smile --

  • # 10. Outdoors -- We love to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful world that God has created for us all. The wonder and splendor of all the places we have been and still want to go.
  • # 9. Exercise -- It gets us out of the house for hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, and hopefully one day scuba diving too!
  • #8. Thrill -- The thrill of finding the caches. It's like a "treasure hunt" each and every time!
  • #7. Challenge -- While similar to the thrill of caching, the challenge is exciting as well. Doing something that many muggles find perplexing? Like driving around the State of Florida and finding a cache in every county.
  • #6. CITO -- Geocaching is Great! But giving back by helping clean up the environment is even better! This helps preserve the natural beauty for others for years to come. Along with helping the animals that might inadvertly ingest something like plastic bags, or get trapped in six-pack rings.
  • #5. Events -- Going to events is a great way to learn more about geocaching, the different type caches, the different hiding styles, hints and tips from others. Getting to rub elbows with the top Geocachers like "Team Snook - Andy and Ellie". Sharing meals, playing games, and winning at raffles (We lose sometimes too, but it is always good to play to support the event planners)
  • #4. Discovery -- We have had the unique pleasure of discovering hidden parks, preserves, and beautiful places all over the world that we would not have dreamed of going to, nor would we have found without having a GPS and coordinates to chase after.
  • #3. Groundspeak -- Having a well organized and responsive company running the website. While we don't always agree with the rules, we know that they are in place for our and others safety and enjoyment of the hobby. Also we have awesome "Reviewers" who spend countless hours of their own time to review and allow the publishing of caches.
  • #2. Inexpensive -- One of the best reasons to do this hobby is because it is so inexpensive compared to other hobbies. Except for buying a GPS there is no real expense for most people. You can go on the site for FREE and download the caches, but for a SMALL FEE you can get a premium membership to get more features. And you can spend more for caches, TB's, Geocoins, going to events etc., you don't have to if you can't afford to do so, but you can still enjoy the hobby with minimal expense.
  • #1. Geocachers -- Some of the best people we have met and have had the privilege of spending time with are Geocachers. We have many a good friend that take the time to hang out with us and share their experiences with us.

Please use bug spray with Deet out here on this trail. The Horseflies Love To Bite You
