The Brown Family Environmental Center is one of our favorite places to hike. Near Kenyon College, in Gambier, Ohio, it sprawls across acres of land surrounding the Kenyon campus, with several entrance points on either side of SR 229. The southern part of the BFEC is near the Kokosing Gap Trail and Kokosing River. The northern side, where our cache is located, has paths leading through the woods and meadows, along a tributary, and ultimately to the Kenyon Observatory.
Park at the Brown Environmental Center entrance off of New Gambier Rd. about 1/2 mile West of State Route 308 (Kenyon Rd.). Park, and enjoy a walk that will take you through field and forest to discover part 1 of a 2-part multi-cache. Co-ordinates for the second part are in the log-book for part 1.
For part 1, you are looking for a plastic container about the size of a water bottle or 3-tennis-ball can covered in camouflage duct tape. The top screws off, and inside you will find lots of goodies to choose from and a log-book with coordinates to the second cache.
For part 2, you are looking for a smaller cache in a round Feta cheese container covered in gray duct tape. Another log book and a couple of prizes are inside. If you take something, please replace it with a new gift.
