Tourist information: Halver Hahn is literally translated as half a chicken in English. (Be careful! Some names of German dishes are nothing like what they sound.) It is actually a cheese sandwich, served with buttered rye bread, a slice of Gouda cheese, pickles, onions, mustard, and a pinch of paprika powder. In its simplicity and pureness it reminds of the famous cooking ideas of Jamie "The Naked Chef" Oliver over the last decades.
4 rye buns
25 g butter
8 thick slices medium ripe Gouda
7 tablespoons mustard
15 onion rings
6 pickled gherkins
2 pinches paprika powder
10 cherry tomatoes
3 branches parsley
Liquify Koelsch. Put Koelsch into the mixing bowl. Put butter into the mixing bowl. Combine paprika powder. Fold butter into the mixing bowl. Put onion rings into the mixing bowl. Combine butter. Fold branches parsley into the mixing bowl. Put cherry tomatoes into the mixing bowl. Combine thick slices medium ripe Gouda. Combine cherry tomatoes. Add mustard. Add paprika powder. Put butter into the mixing bowl. Add rye buns. Put pickled gherkins into the mixing bowl. Put branches parsley into the mixing bowl. Remove onion rings. Add paprika powder. Put butter into the mixing bowl. Add mustard. Put butter into the mixing bowl. Pour contents of the mixing bowl into the baking dish.
